Mamak Restaurant's "Pet"

A few nights ago, I went out for some roti canai and teh tarik with a friend.  The neighborhood restaurant serves nice roti canai and fish curry.

We sat outside on the five-foot-way.  While waiting for our roti telur, I saw a rat running across the area.  Of course, I gave a screech and pulled up my legs while my friend automatically followed suit.  We were the only ones who were screeching - the others coolly sipped their teh tarik and continued to to whatever they were doing. Er... what gives?

The "pet" didn't come near the patrons but skirted around them.  It kept on darting back and forth from its hiding place at the side.  Even the cat left it alone and appeared quite accustomed to the natural enemy.

My friend and I looked at each other and said, "Garfield".

Wondered if the staff feed the cat roti canai or not?  Lasagna maybe?
