The headhunter called after I posted my piece yesterday. Was told that vacancy is for a brand manager (contract for 2 mths); to start next week and for RM5k per mth.
Gee they must think my middle name is desperate. Told the lady that they need to make it more attractive and that I can only start in Sept. (Someone I knew at that MNC recommended me. He knew that I had left the corporate scene and inbetween jobs at the moment. It was sweet of him.)
Last nite, got a call from the MNC guy and was informed that they needed someone next week and can't wait til i get back next mth.
So, that's it. No dilemma. Really much ado over nothing.
This morning, I got a call from the careline of the broadband service provider and she said that she made a mistake with the package. The package with the free modem stopped on 25 July 2005 and now I have to pay RM2 mthly (total of RM88).
DID I blow my top? You betta. And I wasn't very polite in my choice of words. Felt bad afterwards but I thot it really sucks.
I have earlier told the provider that I can understand if they cannot give me the previous package as long as the modem, registration and installation are free. Under the special package I registered, the package was only RM70 per month for 12 months with free modem, registration and installation.
Well, if they still insist on asking me to pay for the modem, the lest they can do is to compensate the RM18 per month for 12 mths (which I wld have enjoyed if the service provider had NOT lost my registration and installed my line earlier).
And their PR Unit wants to publish my note of thanks to the careline rep. earlier to the media? Duh???
As someone one who had worked with the Corp Comm before, I had hesitated to go public with my complaint. I'd rather resolve the issue without airing the dirty linen in public.
On the other hand, as a consumer, nobody likes to be short-changed and I do not think that service provider, as a responsible corporate citizen, would want to do that to its customers. Asking me to pay for the modem (through no fault of mine) is doing exactly that.
Come to think of it, it'd be cheaper to pay RM88 for the modem and get the service provider to compensate me RM18 per month for 12 months!
Sent them a detailed email this afternoon b4 I went out to run some errands. B4 I sent it out, asked a buddy to check if it was logical and easily understood.
Came back to find that the broadband provider has decided to waive the cost of the modem. Am sure their accountants told them that it's cheaper this way!
They could have done that earlier without spoiling my day, kan?
Really, all these much ado about nothing!
